On December 3, 2024, Jean Lu, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank (China) Limited, visited the Shanghai Gold Exchange and met with SGE Chairman Yu Wenjian. Jing (Wesley) Yang, Vice President of Standard Chartered (China), and SGE Vice President Li Hua also attended the meeting.
Chairman Yu provided an overview of the Shanghai Gold Exchange’s market so far this year and outlined his vision for its future. He noted that Standard Chartered is one of the earliest international institutions to enter China’s precious metals market and over the years, the bank has strongly supported the exchange in terms of market development and business innovation. Yu hopes that both organizations will continue to collaborate with sincerity and mutual trust and for mutual benefits, and work closely in more areas to jointly promote the high-quality development and high-standard opening-up of China’s precious metals market.
Mrs. Lu stated that China has always been a major market for Standard Chartered and the bank will continue to support the Shanghai Gold Exchange. She intends to deepen the partnership between the two organizations and help connect China’s precious metals market with the global market.
